Environmental Accreditation
Crown Relocations has been awarded the Environment Accreditation
ISO14001:2004 in London, a standard recognised worldwide for
Environmental Management Systems and awarded to organisations
who can demonstrate awareness and reduction of any activities
that impact on our environment.
Crown Relocations is one of the first international relocation
companies to take on this challenge and, by encouraging suppliers
within the industry, hopes to make an impact on the growing
threat of global warming.
Crown Relocations is taking the following actions:
- A specific and individual Environment Policy is in place
covering all aspects of regular activities which impact on
the environment. Over 80 points of interest are covered, which
Crown is managing and is constantly striving to improve upon.
- All cardboard, paper blankets, paper-based packing materials,
timber, office paper and drinking cans are recycled. In the
past year this has amounted to 101 tons of paper and card
and 140 tons of timber.
- New packing materials have been developed and contain at
least 80% recycled and reclaimed materials. By using recycled
products, and recycling them after use, Crown is significantly
reducing the need to fell trees.
- Crown Relocations will not use oil-based packing materials,
such as bubble wrap, where a paper-based product will be just
as effective. Due to the length of time taken to biodegrade
and the emissions released during manufacture, oil-based materials
will only be used where absolutely necessary.
- Crown's drivers have undergone advanced driving training
which encourages better driving skills and leads to the use
of less fuel.
- Crown's Fleet Management Programme includes strict
guidelines on vehicle emissions, ahead of the requirements
for the London Low Emission Zone. In addition the fleet includes
many dual-fuel vehicles, further reducing carbon emissions.
- Wherever possible correspondence will be via email rather
than hard copy. Each email includes a footer reminding the
user of the environmental impact of printing the message.
- Employees are encouraged to archive closed files electronically,
with any paper from the original file to be shredded and recycled.
